We will be hosting a "Career Planning and Resume Writing" workshop on Thurs/Fri., August 2 and 3, 2018 at 10-4:00 p.m. Grant Elliot, Iowa Workforce Counselor, will be discussing the 6 different steps to preparing yourself for your next career move. This steps include attitude, career planning, industry trends, job searching, creating a resume, and interviewing techniques.

"Pandelirium" Steel Drum Band will be here to perform on Thursday, August 16, 2018. This band is from The University of Iowa and performs on 55 gallon oil barrels. Their music is a blend of styles that include Calypsos, Soccas of Trinidad, Reggae, and Jazz. If the weather is nice the band will be performing in our back parking lot. Bring your lawn chair, soak up the sun, and imagine you are in the Carribbean islands!

Perla, our Assistant Director, will be hosting Cook The Book, "Iowa Pride" on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 12-1:15 p.m. Iowa is known for it's beef, pork, corn, and soybeans. Let's celebrate Iowa's agriculture. Choose a recipe from our "Iowa" cookbooks. Bring your prepared recipe to share with others and bring a friend, too.

Dr. Scott Cawelti, University of Northern Iowa Professor, will be here to present an examination of Robert James Waller's songs and poetry. Robert James Waller is the author of "Bridges of Madison County." Dr. Calwelti and Robert James Waller performed together in the band, "Winter Ridge Handy," in the 1980's.

Teens! We are celebrating the "Summer Reading Program" on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. We will have pizza and Karaoke. The drawing for a gift card or Kindle Fire HD will be held during this event.

Sadie Pedersen, Alzheimer's Association, will be here on Monday, August 27, 2018 for her final presentation on Dementia. "Bookends" Book Club will meet on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The Christian Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. The Highland Ridge Book Club, hosted by Perla, will meet on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. "Story Time" is every Thursday beginning at 10:15 a.m. Please note that we will not be having "Story Time" on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
