On Monday, Sept 17, at 6 p.m., Linda McCann will be here to discuss her book, "Civilian Conservation Corps of Northeast Iowa." The Civilian Corp (CCC) was a federally funded program that provided jobs to young men during the Great Depression. The CCC planted trees, developed trails, and built shelters in our country's 800 state parks. Linda has visited us before and has graciously agreed to come back. Come learn about the growth of our great state's parks.

Perla, our Assistant Director, will be hosting Cook The Book "Birthdays," on Wed., Sept 19 at Noon. Let's celebrate our birthdays together. You may choose to use your own favorite recipe, or choose a recipe from our bakery, or cakes cookbooks located at the circulation desk.

We will be hosting Iowa County Master Gardeners on Tues., Sept 18 at 6:30 p.m. Candace Crane and Mary Bulger will discuss Monarch butterflies and how to attract pollinators to your garden. This is a great program for all avid gardeners and insect lovers.

Beth Krayenhagen, Horizons Family Alliance, will present "Policy Change in Mental Health" on Mon., Sept 12 at 5:30 p.m. Ann Drobot, Alzheimer's Association, will present the final installment of her "Dementia Series" on Mon., Sept 24 at 6 p.m. This segment addresses understanding and responding to dementia-related behaviors.

In recognition of "Banned Books Week," Sept. 23-29, we have a couple of events planned. Thursday, Sept 27, will be the showing of the film, "The Book Thief" at 1:30 p.m. We will host a "Banned Books Scavenger Hunt" all day, including Friday.

Our Youth Librarian, Margaret will be hosting "Story Time" every Thursday from 10:15-11a.m."Family Night" is Wed., Sept 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Community Service Sewers "Sew-cial" will be on Tues., Sept 11. Our Senior Social is every Friday morning from 10:30-Noon, in the large meeting room, lower level.
