June Highlights (Click here for Newsletter)

When it gets too hot come into the library where it is "cool" in more ways than one! Margaret, our Youth Librarian, hosts the Summer Reading Program "Libraries Rock" and has activities planned for every Monday and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Each day will  have a different theme. Our Family fun Night "The Relatives Came" is Tuesday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m. All families are welcome for stories, games, and lots of fun.

Attention, Laura Ingalls Wilder Fans! Laura Keyes, a northern Illinois Librarian, will be here to present her show on "Laura Ingalls Wilder." Keyes will talk about Laura's frontier life, her family's long journey between South Dakota and Missouri in 1884. Let's go back in time with Laura!

Our Assistant Director, Perla, who hosts our monthly "Cook The Book" has a "Father's Day" theme planned for this month. Choose a special recipe that you would like to prepare for your father or husband. Bring your prepared meal in to share on Wednesday, June 20 at 12 p.m. Bring your appetite and a container to take home some goodies.

Sadie Pederson, Programs and Communication Coordinator, from the Alzheimer's Association in Cedar Rapids, will be here on Monday, June 25 at 6 p.m. to discuss the "Ten Signs of Alzheimer's Disease." This is the first of a four part series being presented through the summer. Learn the difference between the normal signs of aging, the signs of Alzheimer's disease and its risk factors. Keep an eye on the calendar for further dates in the series.
