What is Freegal?

Freegal is a downloadable music service. It offers millions of songs in more than 100 genres of music, from more than 10,000 music labels. Songs are available in the MP3 format, with no Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions.

How to log in:

To log in, you will need a valid WPL library card number.

You must follow the link from the library's website. Going to Freegal from a bookmark may not work.

How many songs can I download?

You can download up to 3 songs per week. The "Freegal week" runs from Monday through Sunday.

When you are logged in to the Freegal site, a counter displays at the top of the screen showing how many downloads you have used. If the counter reads 1/3, for example, you have used 1 of your 3 downloads for the week.

How do I download a song?

Click the "Download Now" link next to the song you want.

Music is downloaded as an MP3 file, which can be played using most music players, including iTunes.

Can I hear a sample before I download?

Yes. Click the arrow to the left of a song's title to hear a short sample of the song.

Is there a Freegal App?

Yes, Apps are available for Android devices and iOS (iPod, iPhone, iPad). Find out more about Freegal Apps.
